According to the UN refugee agency, 13 students have been killed in United Nations schools by Israeli occupying forces in the Gaza Strip since March, adding that many other children registered in UNRWA schools were injured in the demonstrations. About 86 percent of those were injured by gunshot wounds resulting in serious bodily harm.
"The wounds can wear clothes, but because of the cruelty of this violence and everyone involved in it, the effects are permanent; rehabilitation is often long, expensive and uncertain. Every effort must be made to protect individuals who are exposed to this tragic situation more effectively deplores the loss of lives and the devastating impact of deaths and injuries on individuals and families." UNRWA said.
The United Nations agency also stressed that "the worsening humanitarian crisis in recent months has caused further devastation in the Gaza Strip and has spread to a fragile health system already to the point of collapse."
“In recent months, the deepening humanitarian crisis has further ravaged the Gaza Strip and stretched an already fragile health system to breaking point,” The UN agency further added.
