A human rights group has warned that international aid to Gaza is being used as a tool of control and surveillance, effectively pricing a basic meal in the strip at "death". In its latest report, the organization highlighted how many Gaza residents can no longer meet even their basic food needs due to the ongoing Israeli blockade, a plummeting local currency, and the soaring prices in the local market.
The report stated that the aid being sent to the region is not effectively addressing the food crisis, but rather reinforces the occupation's control over the lives of civilians. The situation in Gaza is described as a "humanitarian catastrophe", where securing enough food for the population has become nearly impossible under the current conditions.
The organization stressed that humanitarian relief should be unconditional, aiming to lift the blockade and provide basic needs for civilians, without any form of surveillance or political control attached.
