The health‑care system in the Gaza Strip is facing an acute collapse as hospitals struggle under the weight of relentless shortages of medicines, fuel and vital equipment.

Medical facilities across the enclave report that operating theatres, intensive‑care units and emergency departments are overwhelmed with wounded, while the supply of essential drugs, anesthetics, and consumables has plummeted to dangerously low levels.

Several hospitals that remain functional are doing so only partially, with many relying on backup generators whose fuel supplies are dwindling fast. Without adequate fuel, ventilators, dialysis machines and oxygen systems face imminent shutdown.

For patients with chronic illnesses, trauma injuries or surgical needs, the situation is life‑threatening. Many are reportedly waiting for treatment that cannot be provided, while hospitals warn that a full breakdown of services is imminent.

In this critical juncture, medical practitioners are calling for immediate international humanitarian access and relief, including open crossings to allow the entry of medical supplies and fuel, if the health‑system collapse is to be averted.
