A senior Israeli researcher said that the situation in the Gaza Strip is going on a sliding slope, but the accusations against Israel are responsible for the humanitarian crisis there, and the possibility of causing destabilization of security in the region.
Kobi Michael, an Israeli researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies of Tel Aviv University, said in an article published in "Makor Rishon" newspaper, that the situation in Gaza makes Israel "in front of" three alternatives to what exists.
Michael, who served as a lecturer at a number of Israeli universities, and published 16 books about the Palestinians, he said that the Israel's options to cope with the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza are three:
The first is to work unilaterally to save the growing living crisis in Gaza, especially in the water , pharmaceutical sectors, and to facilitate the transfer of humanitarian aid to international organizations.
The second option is to help Abbas to achieve his demands for reconciliation with Hamas, so as to hastens the restoration of Palestinian Authority control over the Gaza Strip.
The third option is to consider the Gaza Strip as a political entity ruled by Hamas, allowing for Israel to supply the Gaza Strip with vital equipment and humanitarian needs, in exchange for an agreement with Hamas to achieve to a long-term security calm.
