UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese has described the Global Sumud Flotilla as a moving message of humanity and a bold stand against genocide. Speaking at a press conference in Tunis, Albanese emphasized that genocide is not limited to killing, but also includes the destruction of a people’s identity, history, and dignity.

She highlighted that more than 20,000 Palestinians have been killed, and that this flotilla symbolizes international solidarity and moral responsibility in the face of global silence and complicity.

“The crew of this flotilla are not just activists—they are defenders of justice and dignity,” said Albanese. “Their mission sends a message to the world that silence in the face of genocide is unacceptable.”

The flotilla is currently docked at Sidi Bou Said port in Tunisia and is scheduled to set sail on September 10, 2025. It aims to break the Israeli maritime blockade on Gaza, delivering essential humanitarian aid and medical supplies to civilians in desperate need.

The initiative brings together international human rights organizations, activists, and supporters of the Palestinian cause from around the world.
