Israeli forces Wednesday overnight and Tuesday evening detained 13 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians from Beit Ur al-Tahta village, west of Ramallah city.

The soldiers also rounded up four others after breaking into and searching their houses in Jabal al-Tawil neighborhood of the neighboring city of al-Bireh.

In the northern West Bank, the soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner after ransacking his house in Meithalun town, south of Jenin, as confirmed by Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office, Muntaser Samour.

In the southern West Bank, the sources confirmed a predawn raid in Bethlehem city, resulting in the detention of another.

Soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner and forcibly entered his house in Husan village, west of the city, turning it topsy-turvy.

Still in Bethlehem district, gun-toting soldiers rounded up a 16-year-old teen during confrontations at the entrance of Husan village, west of the city.

As confrontations were going on, the soldiers opened fire towards local teens, injuring one by a round in the thigh. The casualty was rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment.

In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Dura town, south of the city, where the soldiers re-arrested two former prisoners and searched several houses.

They also barged their way into al-Fawwar refugee camp, southwest of the city, and re-arrested another former prisoner.

Meanwhile, a caucus of Palestinian human rights organizations said that Israeli forces detained 467 Palestinians, including 135 minors and 10 women, in October 2021.

According to the caucus, which comprises the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, PPS, the Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association (Addameer) and the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, roughly 4,650 Palestinians, including 160 minors, 34 women and some 500 prisoners placed under administrative detention, are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
