On Sunday morning, Israeli occupation navy opened fire at Palestinian fishermen sailing off Gaza’s northern seashore.
'Israeli naval forces unleashed heavy spates of machine gunfire toward Palestinian fishermen navigating within the authorized nautical miles," Local sources said.
Based on the Oslo Accords, signed by the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel in 1993, Gaza anglers have the right to fish and sail within a 20-nautical-mile area; however, Israel has reduced the fishing zone to only three nautical miles.
The Israeli navy routinely attacks anglers sailing off Gaza’s waters, in a violation of the ceasefire accord struck in the wake of the 2014 Israeli offensive on the besieged enclave.
